It's late

"Yes, Aslan, " said both the children. But Polly added, "But we're not quite as bad as that world, are we, Aslan?""Not yet, daughter of Eve," he said. "Not yet. But you are growing more like it. It is not certain that some wicked one of your race will not find a secret as evil as the Deplorable Word and use it to destroy all living things. And soon, very soon, before you are an old man and an old woman great nations in your world will be ruled by tyrants who care no more for joy and justice and mercy than the Empress Jadis. Let your world beware..."

If he could only see us now.

Insomniac, apparently

It's 5:04 a.m., and I'm wide awake. Can't sleep.

We watched some home videos on Thanksgiving and they were full of people I miss. Papa (pronounced paw-paw), in particular. One time he got me an umbrella that had my name embroidered in yellow. The crazy old man tried to tell me he found it in a parking lot.
He was always playing a joke on someone. Always making someone laugh. His hat was never straight on his head and he didn't know how to smile without winking.
I don't want anyone to tell me that 95 is old because it's not nearly old enough. I only had him for 20 years so those other 75 years don't count. I want to pick blackberries and ride my bike with the pink banana seat through chicken houses. I want to sit on his front porch swing with him and eat moonpies. I want a black cherry cola. Needless to say, I miss him so much.

The Golden Road

"Once upon a time we all walked on the golden road. It was a fair highway, through the Land of Lost Delight; shadow and sunshine were blessedly mingled, and every turn and dip revealed a fresh charm and a new loveliness to eager hearts and unspoiled eyes. On that road we heard the song of morning stars; we drank in fragrances aerial and sweet as a May mist; we were rich in gossamer fancies and iris hopes; our hearts sought and found the boon of dreams; the years waited beyond and they were very fair; life was a rose-lipped comrade with purple flowers dripping from her fingers." - Montgomery
(Golden Road= Youth)

Anyone else want to go running over the sand dunes and through wheat grass fields barefoot in a flowing gown on Prince Edwards Island after reading that?... No?... Just me?... okay.

Where did this attitude go?

UNITE!
Ignite and spark a light
to burn
so bright
The sight
will blind the blind
of this
our modern time

"Please call me Cordelia"

Oh, Lucy Maud Montgomery, how I love thee. Anne and I have been playing together once again and it's been loverly. I am on book 8 (Rilla of Ingleside) and I am already getting that sad feeling that always comes when I finish a book. I can already tell that I'm going to miss the Blythes... I guess I'll just read them again. (Again.)

Blue Eyed Boy

If you know me, you've probably heard about my Jack. Jackson Milton Tomlin is my sweet sweet nephew and he came into my life on February 1st, 2008. I never in my life thought I could love a child as much as I love our boy. I am so glad my sister had a child first, so I could experience pure "aunt love." I brag about him like he's my own, and I love him like he is, too. Feast your eyes on this cuteness:

My best friend "Clarence."

See those really stinkin' cute yellow chairs? The ones with the $1,395.00 price tag?! My awesome husband and I got one this weekend at the Pottery Barn outlet for $235.00!!! We rule. We know it. Actually, I need to go to a meeting that starts like this, "Hi, My name is Sarah and I'm a clearance shopaholic." :)

We got our wedding pictures back but my lovely computer at work... you know, the one with WINDOWS 2000 (?!?!) on it... doesn't have a DVD drive. Shocking, I know. So as soon as I get my sweet but very busy husband to connect my lap top at the new place, I will post them. Get excited! They're awesome!

A Wife of Noble Character, Who Can Find?

Rare, precious, trustworthy, kind, diligent, energetic, disciplined, compassionate, generous, provident, elegant, influential, wise, poised, praiseworthy, enterprising, distinguished, honored and God-fearing.

On August 9, 2008, I promised to be all those things to my husband. This is going to be the documentation of me trying (and probably failing a lot) to do so. Here we go...
